Piper auritum

The Piper genus contains many important species, including Black Pepper, Kava and our Kawakawa. Unfortunatelty true Kava doesnt survive in New Zealand but this Central American lookalike is more hardy. The tropical heart shaped leaves are bold, differing from Kava only by having a central vein . Like Kava it has only male flowers. Great foliage to make you feel warm! 2m
